WABIN Study Visit

From models to the field: good practices in water management in Italy

On 23rd September 2026, the WABIN project will organise a study visit for the Slovenian delegation in Italy, focusing on practical approaches and good practices in water management.

The event will begin at the Consorzio di Bonifica della Venezia Giulia in Ronchi dei Legionari and continue at the Foce dell’Isonzo Nature Reserve at Isola della Cona in Staranzano.

The programme will bring together Slovenian and Italian experts to share knowledge and experience related to water balance modelling, groundwater monitoring, hydrological practices and future scenarios for river basins and protected natural areas. Participants will also explore ecosystem-based management, environmental monitoring, river dynamics and integrated approaches connecting land and sea.

The afternoon programme will include a field visit to Isola della Cona, offering participants an opportunity to learn more about the ecological and ecosystem characteristics of the reserve.
